  • Hip-Hop Dance (K-12)

    Dictionaries define hip‐hop as “The expression of the relationship between youth and their environment” and we certainly agree! Technically Hip‐Hop Dance is a contemporary art form consisting of the foundational styles of poppin’, lockin‘ and Breakin’. Hip‐Hop Dance is physically invigorating, thoroughly satisfying, and entirely safe!

  • Step Dance (K-12)

    The Step Dance Program (previously known as 'Stomp') is based on a rich history of South African gumboot dancing and on the modern styles of “steppin”. Modern/urban interpretations of Steppin’ fall under the umbrella of Hip-Hop dance, with heavy emphasis on the rhythmic components. Students will utilize their bodies to create intricate drum beats, both with and without musical accompaniment. Through this program we offer an accessible interpretation of these dance styles by simplifying and revitalizing age‐old dance moves. The Step Dance Program is a bold and disciplined experience.

  • African Dance (K-12)

    The African Dance Program is based on a rich history of African Tribal Dancing. African Dance is a full‐body experience which leads the participant through the ancient stories and mythology that has been passed down for centuries and communicated through the art of dance! Through this program we offer an accessible interpretation of these dance styles by simplifying and revitalizing age‐old dance moves.

  • Around The World Dance 1 (African/Hip-Hop/Caribbean)(K-12)

    The Around the World Dance Program is a dynamic exploration of three forms of dance: West African, Caribbean, and Hip‐Hop. All of these dance forms are based on a rich history and are connected in ways that few realize! The combination of these three dance forms gives the students the opportunity to experience a global interpretation of dance from the Ancient African Tribes to the Contemporary world of Hip‐Hop Dance!

  • Yoga (K-12)

    Yoga is an age-old practice originating from India that dates back thousands of years. The goal here is to master control of both mind and body through balance and flowing movement. The postures practiced in class will not only encourage physical fitness, but also teach your students about focus, discipline and personal growth, all in a calm but fun environment.

  • SLAM! Poetry (K-Gr.12)

    The SLAM! Poetry Program is an exciting course that aims to re-frame the world of Language Arts and give the power of poetic expression a contemporary spin. The program invites students into a new understanding of poems and poetry, works through the misconceptions of poetry, introduces dynamic writing exercises that will include, reading, writing, grammar, context, imagery, metaphors, and similes. The program includes a focus on how to read dynamically through use of space, body language, vocal projection, and breathing.   • Beat Street Dance (K-12)

    We've combined Hip‐Hop, Stomp and Dub‐Step (Animation) dance styles to create an Urban dance experience that will have your whole school buzzing. We explore the groove of Hip‐Hop, the sounds of Stomp and the electronic influences of Dub‐ Step! Students will learn to balance the flow of robotic dance moves with the powerful precision of steppin', while also building upon foundational hip-hop styles. We'll look at the influences London, LA and West Africa have had on these modern dance styles and learn to integrate the original steps of dance with the new expressions we've all come to love! This voyage of kinesthetic expression is highly interactive, entirely approachable, and fun, fun, FUN!

  • Zumba (K-12)

    Zumba is an upbeat new style of aerobic dance hailing from Colombia. It incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue and mambo into one action-packed session. Your students will be exposed to fun and challenging moves in a safe, fitness-oriented manner.   • Bollywood Dance (K-12)

    The popularity of Bollywood has taken the world by storm, especially since the 2000’s. Originating from the Indian film industry, this style of dance meshes the rich history of traditional Indian dance with many new Western styles that you may see on Broadway, or in modern hip-hop music videos.

  • Latin Dance (K-12)

    The SK Latin program fuses the Latin-American roots of this dance style to showcase the influences of Cuba, Brazil, and more contemporary styles out of LA. It can be danced solo or partnered but is treated as a solo dance experience within the SK In-School Program framework. We’ll have your students dancing their way out of the gym to our energizing Latin beats!

  • Dancehall (K-12)

    Dancehall! Dancehall is a genre of Jamaican popular music that originated in the late 1970s. The popularity of dancehall has spawned dance moves that help to make parties and stage performances more energetic. Many dance moves seen in hip hop videos are actually variations of dancehall dances. We have a local team in the following region(s) ready to lead this program:

  • Around the World 2 (Hip-Hop, Bollywood, Latin)(K-12)

    Around The World (2) combines three seemingly different but surprisingly connected dance styles: Hip-Hop, Bollywood and Latin. Modern BBoying/toprock steps pull a lot of influence from Latin footwork. Bollywood films often feature routines that are largely reminiscent of western hip-hop music videos that you might view on MTV, Vevo and YouTube. This program will take your students on a world tour, allowing them to appreciate both the similarities and differences between this sampling of the global dance palette.

  • DANCEPL3Y (K-9)

    DANCEPL3Y is an education program that “plays” with various elements of dance in an interACTIVE way. DANCEPL3Y classes are designed to connect with the students while also supporting teachers in meeting curriculum expectations for their school district. The DP Residency is structured based on the Teaching Dance for Understanding pedagogical model of inquiry-based learning.

Program Format
  • Process-Focused Residency

    Process Focused (No Performance)
    Students will explore movement and the chosen dance style without preparing for a final performance.


    Requirements
    - Minimum of 3 sessions per student group.
    - Maximum of 60 students per group (1 Instructor) and 75 students per group (2 Instructors w/ extra charge)
    - 30 minutes-1 hour session length (15-30 minutes sufficient for Kindergarten classes)

  • In-Class Performance Residency

    In-Class Performance
    Students learn a class routine and share perform, in-class, on their final program day. Parents are welcome to observe the final class.


    Requirements
    - Minimum of 3 sessions per student group.
    - Maximum of 60 students per group (1 Instructor) and 75 students per group (2 Instructors w/ extra charge)
    - 30 minutes-1 hour session length (15-30 minutes sufficient for Kindergarten classes)

  • Day-Time Performance Residency

    Day-Time Performance
    Students perform their class routine in a school-wide daytime showcase. Everyone is welcome!


    Requirements
    - Minimum of 4 sessions per student group (additional rehearsal time recommended)
    - Maximum of 45 students per group (1 Instructor) and 65 students per group (2 Instructors w/ extra charge)
    - 30 minutes-1 hour session length (15-30 minutes sufficient for Kindergarten classes)

  • Evening Performance Residency

    Evening Performance
    Students participate in a formal school-wide evening performance. Everyone is welcome!


    Requirements
    - Minimum of 7 sessions per student group (additional dress-rehearsal time recommended)
    - Maximum of 45 students per group (1 Instructor) and 65 students per group (2 Instructors w/ extra charge)
    - 30 minutes-1 hour session length (15-30 minutes sufficient for Kindergarten classes)

  • Residency EXPANDED (Add-on)
